At Wingspan, we provide neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQ+ inclusive services for all ages in Virginia. We specialize in diagnostic evaluations for autism and ADHD for adults and teens who are high-masking, 2E (twice exceptional), seeking a diagnosis later in life, and/or desiring reevaluation after a negative diagnostic experience, as well as autism evaluations for children for whom the traditional path isn’t a good fit. We are particularly passionate about supporting parents who are seeking their own diagnosis after their child’s experience led to new or increased self-discovery, helping fellow therapists and healthcare professionals on their path to diagnosis, working with college students and older teens who are seeking an evaluation to increase self-awareness while improving access to university accommodations.

We offer self-discovery sessions for adults and teens as well, especially those newly or self-diagnosed, to help deepen their understanding of their identity and explore unmasking, and consult sessions for specific topics, such as promoting intentionality in parenting — whether supporting yourself as an autistic and/or ADHD parent or your child’s unique neurotype — and cultivating neuro-inclusive home environments. This is solution-focused, brief therapy designed to be only one or a few sessions; while we don’t offer ongoing therapy services at this time, we keep a referral list of neuro-affirming therapists and other providers for our clients.

We are AuDHD and LGBTQ+ owned and led. Our therapeutic approach blends lived experience with intentionally neurodivergent-centered, inclusive best practice. In a society where the traditional evaluation model is deficit-based and care may feel prescriptive or misaligned, we show up differently. Our services are neuro-affirming, non-pathologizing, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. Our process centers your unique identity and needs and is designed to be collaborative and empowering.

We provide services both in-person at our neuro-inclusive office in Richmond, VA and virtually throughout Virginia.

Our Evaluation Services

  • Evaluations for Adults

We offer strengths-based diagnostic evaluations for autism and ADHD that center the neurodivergent experience. We specialize in supporting adults who are higher masking and/or seeking a diagnosis later in life.

  • Evaluations for Teens

We offer diagnostic evaluations for autism and ADHD in teens (13-17) that focus on affirming their strengths. We specialize in supporting teens whose traits might be otherwise missed during a typical evaluation process.

  • Evaluations for Children

We offer non-pathologizing, family-centered diagnostic evaluations for autism in children (up to 12). Our collaborative approach blends the experience of the child with the observations of their adult(s).

Our Supportive Services

  • Self-Discovery Sessions

We offer self-discovery sessions for autistic and ADHD adults and teens, both newly and self-diagnosed, to deepen their understanding of their identity, learn what it means to unmask, and live most authentically.

  • Consult Sessions

We offer consult sessions to support autistic and ADHD adults with focused areas of need. We specialize in supporting intentionality and inclusion in parenting, as well as cultivating neuro-affirming home environments.

  • ~ The Cocoon ~

For autistic and ADHD adults seeking ongoing identity development and self-exploration, we offer a monthly subscription that includes self-reflection activities, our full resource library, and customized offerings.

Our Approach

  • We approach autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergence as natural variations of being, not as deficits — every individual is unique and deserves to be met as they are, not expected to change to live fully within our neuronormative world.

  • We listen deeply, honor lived experience, and approach every client with respect, curiosity, and understanding. We seek to create an environment that feels welcoming and affirming, allowing each person show up as their authentic self.

  • We challenge ableism and uphold social justice, disability and neurodiversity justice, body liberation, anti-racism, and sexuality and gender identity inclusion — personally and professionally.

  • We believe in providing neuro-affirming, non-pathologizing, strengths-based services that center our clients. We challenge the traditional deficit model of diagnostic evaluation and acknowledge the ways the DSM is rooted in systems of oppression; thus, we engage it only as an adaptive framework.

  • We honor self-diagnosis and view it as valid. We also recognize the ways that a formal diagnosis can facilitate access to support within our society, as well as be deeply personally affirming.

  • We offer services out-of-pocket to maintain client autonomy over diagnostic disclosure, while striving to maximize financial accessibility with our sliding scale accessible pricing model.

We are a member of the Neurodiversity Therapist Collective and uphold their ethics and values, as well as the social work Code of Ethics.

We also honor the Core Principles of the Neurodiversity Affirming Practice framework.
